Look and construction
Quartz is an engineered stone surface made to measurement after the cabinets are fitted. Laminate uses a decorative layer bonded to a board and is usually fitted with visible joints on more complex runs.
Care
Neither surface should be treated as indestructible. Use trivets for hot pans and chopping boards for knives. Follow the maker’s cleaning guidance and deal with water around joints and edges.
Budget and installation
Quartz usually costs more and may require a separate templating stage. Laminate can be a sensible way to protect budget for storage, appliances or room preparation.
